Job Duties

  1. Report to the Design Manager
  2. Respect and adhere to all active contracts and confidentiality agreements with Applied Chemical Technology and associated clients.
  3. Aid in the daily operation of the Design Department
  4. Manage specific design project functions and assigned design personnel
  5. Work directly with Process Project Managers when necessary in the design of process projects
  6. Perform specific duties of the Design Manager in his or her absence
  7. Manage all aspects of design projects; for example: maintaining timelines and schedules, tracking approvals and changes, tracking transmittals, reviewing project team drawings, and completing final design packages
  8. Aid the Design Manager as requested with employee issues, equipment and software purchases, and training

Physical Demands

  • Certain tasks require coordination of the use of both hands to perform tasks
  • Sit and work on the computer for several hours at a time
  • Lift and handle boxes and sales equipment of 50 lbs or more
  • Reach overhead, stoop, kneel, walk, talk, hear, read, and see

Hours

40 hours per week (8am – 5pm); must be able to work on short notice and work extra hours, including weekends, if needed

Requirements

Education and Work Experience: - Associate’s Degree in Design - Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a design role, with specific experience in Industrial Process Design, Industrial Equipment Design, Estimating, and proficient use of SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD software

Skills

  • Ability and willingness to lead other employees and to communicate with project managers regarding design elements of projects
  • Training and experience in latest version of SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD
  • Training and experience in industrial process design, piping and instrument design, electrical designs, structural designs, and in equipment used in design
  • Excellent hand drawing skills
  • Proficient in cost estimating of equipment (Material and Labor)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
  • Effective communication through verbal, written, and electronic formats
  • Able to maintain a professional, courteous, and tactful working relationship with other employees, clients, and visitors
  • Able to maintain a clean work environment and a professional appearance while on the job
  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized
