Mechanical Design Engineer – Gas Turbine Components & Manufacturing
About the Role
A Mechanical Design Engineer for Gas Turbine Components & Manufacturing at Siemens Energy will develop innovative solutions for the stationary components of gas turbines. Daily tasks include collaborating with cross-functional teams to discuss design requirements, creating initial design concepts using NX, and performing thermal analysis, stress calculations, and lifetime assessments to ensure reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, design, and develop turbine casings and other stationary components for large gas turbines, focusing on mechanical integrity, thermal performance, and durability.
- Create and modify 3D models and drawings using NX, supporting the design team with initial concepts and detailed designs.
- Perform or oversee thermal analysis, stress calculations, and lifetime assessments to ensure compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
- Support the manufacturability and serviceability of casing components by working with manufacturing and service teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the turbine casing team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3-5+ years of experience in the design and development of mechanical components, preferably within gas turbine engineering and/or manufacturing design environments. Candidates with additional experience may be considered for a more senior-level position.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and design; experience with Siemens NX is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of thermal analysis, stress calculations, and mechanical component life assessment methodologies.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and manufacturing processes is highly preferred. Strong technical expertise in mechanical component design may be considered in lieu of direct manufacturing experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a solution-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively in international, cross-functional, and multidisciplinary manufacturing environments.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (visa sponsorship).
- Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
