Essential Functions
- Proficiency in design and drafting in Solidworks and PDM Vault.
- Create detailed sheet metal fabrication and welded assembly drawings to support new product development and existing product lines.
- Assist manufacturing engineers in developing process assembly documentation in both Solidworks CAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Occasionally support operations team with hands-on assembly and training of staff.
- Duties also include conceptualizing, development of prototypes, testing and perfecting designs.
- Compile bill of materials using Oracle or its equivalent.
- Process engineering changes through formal EC notice drafting and execution.
- Follow the production and testing of prototypes and pilot models and where necessary; analyze results, provide information, technical assistance, and corrective actions.
- Work closely with operations team to resolve issues on assembly production lines and assess design features to improve ease of assembly.
- Support production lines by developing detailed work instructions and CAD diagrams.
- Aid in locating sources of supply and working with vendors in the development and supply of purchased items. Develop rapport and relationships with key custom metal fabrication vendors.
- Stay well informed on new developments in the industry through contact with key sales partners.
- Redesign standard products, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
- Prepare project Status Reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and recommending actions.
- Ensure compliance with Schiller's engineering and quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Two-year technical degree related to this function and 5-10 years of experience in product design or an engineering degree and at least 3 years of experience.
- Excellent Solidworks CAD skills and computer skills (MS Excel).
- Hands-on fabrication, machine assembly, and power tools skills are big bonuses.
- Experience with Oracle is a bonus.
- Excellent communications and organizational skills.
- Proficient at problem solving and root cause analysis.
