About the role

Lako is on the lookout for a Design Engineer to join their engineering crew. The position involves mechanical design and the seamless integration of automated systems. Key responsibilities include contributing to projects that enhance and innovate designs, evaluating existing designs for improvements, supporting production by troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions, collaborating with various teams, participating in new product development, and ensuring designs meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and maintain detailed engineering drawings, models, and documentation with appropriate tolerances and specifications.
  • Evaluate existing designs and processes to identify opportunities for improvement in quality, cost, manufacturability, and efficiency.
  • Support production by troubleshooting engineering, manufacturing, or assembly issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with machining, assembly, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
  • Participate in new product development, reverse engineering, and custom solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Use precision measuring tools to validate designs and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain engineering data within ERP and document control systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts.
  • Support training, documentation, and knowledge transfer as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering discipline or equivalent, preferred
  • 6 months to 3 years of engineering experience preferred
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have PC/Computer skills, including knowledge of word processing, data analysis, and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Skills

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PC/Computer skills, including knowledge of word processing, data analysis, and spreadsheet applications
