About the role

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor. This role requires a creative problem-solver with a strong independent work ethic and a meticulous eye for accuracy. The successful candidate will collaborate with the engineering team to design innovative, functional mechanical systems while ensuring all documentation adheres to company standards and production deadlines.

This position involves safety-sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety-sensitive position for the purposes of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill”).

Responsibilities

  • Create complete, accurate solid models and comprehensive piece-part drawings while maintaining rigorous modeling consistency, utilizing proper mating and constraints.
  • Develop efficient pump skid and piping layouts, ensuring optimal spatial arrangement and fluid flow principles.
  • Incorporate basic structural design fundamentals to ensure the structural integrity, support, and safety of skid frameworks and associated equipment.
  • Utilize existing components whenever possible; generate new part numbers and enter them into the system following standardized protocols when new parts are required.
  • Prepare standardized approval drawings for customer review and compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within both engineering drawings and the ERP system.
  • Prepare and complete formal release sheets to transition finalized projects efficiently to the manufacturing shop floor.
  • Address and correct any errors identified during the engineering checking process to minimize production costs and maximize shop throughput.
  • Evaluate workload to communicate realistic, reliable project due dates, directly dictating the schedule of the entire drafting department.
  • Share innovative ideas and workflow optimizations to improve departmental productivity and drafting standards.
  • Remain open-minded and willing to perform other reasonable duties and tasks as assigned to support department needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of professional experience utilizing Autodesk Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD software, with a proven track record in 3D solid modeling and piece-part detailing.
  • Strong foundational understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, material science, and basic structural design.
  • Hands-on experience designing pump skids and complex piping layouts.
  • Exceptional independent problem-solving abilities coupled with strong communication skills for cross-departmental alignment.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to maintain clean, fully detailed models that can be seamlessly handed off or reassigned within the drafting team.

Work Environment

Non-temperature controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typically associated with metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment, including noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, paint masks or respirators (when required), and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.

  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Requires walking, reaching, ascending/descending ladders, bending, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
