Position Summary
Fives Cinetic is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with Fluid Fill equipment experience in Farmington Hills, MI. The ideal candidate will join a team dedicated to innovative manufacturing solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce assembly and detail drawings within Mechanical Engineering as assigned by the Mechanical Project Engineer (MPE).
- Support the project team with tasks provided by the MPE or Engineering Manager.
- Understand the scope, follow engineering processes, design within the budget, and meet the schedule.
- Review, verify, and correct own work before checking by others.
- Ensure that details and sub-assemblies fit together.
- Revise drawings as required through detailing, manufacturing, or field changes.
- Develop cost-effective, standardized designs.
Fluid Fill Equipment Experience
- Knowledge of fluid fill process (fill brake, AC, coolant circuits, perform vacuum, pressure fill or level fill).
- Experience and knowledge of overhead linear drive systems, belt-driven or wheel-driven (including overhead rails and carriages dimensioning, motor and transmission dimensioning).
- Experience and knowledge for hose management (cat tracks, balancers, cable trays…).
- Experience and knowledge of automatic clamp systems to guarantee sealing.
- Experience and knowledge of sealing materials and components and their compatibility with fluids.
- Experience and knowledge of design for different sealing systems (O-Ring, Q-ring, gas or fluids, high and low pressure…).
- Experience and knowledge of pipes and hose design, quick connectors, high and low pressure.
Education & Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.M.E.) from four-year College or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and knowledge of fluid fill process, overhead linear drive systems, hose management, automatic clamp systems, sealing materials, and design for different sealing systems.
- Skills in Solidworks (preferably with PDM experience), Autocad, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
