Mechanical Design Engineer

Requirements

• Must be a true car enthusiast!
• Part Design/prototyping/ordering:
  • Use 3D CAD to create models and manufacturing drawings of products.
  • Strong experience in 3D modelling and an eye for industrial design preferred.
  • SolidWorks – Must have experience
  • Rhino 3D/ 3D surface modelling – Bonus if you have experience
  • 3D Scanning and/or 3D Printing Experience is a bonus.
• Prototyping and testing:
  • Use and maintain our fleet of 5 X1 Carbon Bamboo 3D printers
  • Use R&D workshop, automotive lift & tools, light manufacturing equipment for prototyping & testing
  • Bring prototypes though to production
  • Work with the rest of the engineering team to confirm designs
  • Communicate with suppliers
  • Work with the purchasing team to order
  • Create documentation for new and existing products
  • Create part and assembly drawings (including BOM’s) from existing & new 3D CAD models
  • Work with suppliers to confirm correct manufacturing and assembly
  • Create detailed instructions for customers
  • Work with the media team on install videos and instructions
• Documentation updates and revisions:
  • Update 3D CAD models according to accepted revision requests
  • Update part and assembly drawings according to accepted revision requests
• Quality Control:
  • Perform quality control tasks on outsourced and in-house manufactured parts
  • Use 3D scanning on complex parts, run reports
