Mechanical Design Engineer
About the role
Fameccanica North America is expanding its operations in the Boston Hub and seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design of custom automation systems.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials for mechanical systems of custom automation equipment.
- Work closely with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project teams to support design reviews, problem-solving, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.
- Move designs from concept through build, test, and deployment phases.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of mechanical design experience in automation or custom machinery.
- Strong CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
- Experience in creating assemblies, drawings, and production-ready documentation.
- Ability to work effectively across different departments and solve complex design challenges.
- A hands-on, practical mindset with a keen eye for detail.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in automation and custom machinery design.
Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
- Experience with other CAD software may be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
