Responsibilities

  • Resolve in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarify and expedite home office/responsible engineer(s) responses to meet project needs.
  • Liaise with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
  • Provide on-site technical support for interpreting engineering documents, specifications, and drawings, including input to the change management process.
  • Engage in the permitting process and interact with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Collaborate with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors to manage key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
  • Ensure revision control for all construction documents and confirm contractors have the latest revisions.
  • Manage, control, and communicate timely information related to potential design and installation changes.
  • Work within the field sketch/redline process for changes and collaborate with Project Controls and Construction on the Field Design Revision process.
  • Act as the technically competent lead in response to requests for specification deviations, working within the project-approved process.
  • Work with Field Quality, contractors, and Home Office Engineering to resolve Nonconformities (NCRs).
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to subordinate team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in Mechanical engineering or 8-10 years in construction management of heavy-industrial process facilities, including life sciences and data centers.
  • A basic understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes, and standards.
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field experience supporting construction.
