About the Role

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking a qualified Mechanical/Building Inspector to provide construction inspection and quality assurance support for multiple federal facility modernization projects within the San Francisco Bay Area. Projects may include Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC systems, air handling units, cooling coils, ductwork, cooling towers, fire alarm coordination, and other building infrastructure improvements at occupied federal facilities. The inspector will act as the owner's representative in the field, monitoring construction progress and verifying compliance with contract requirements.

Location: San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of mechanical and building systems construction activities
  • Verify contractor work complies with plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements
  • Prepare detailed field observation reports with photographs
  • Attend project meetings virtually and in person as required
  • Review construction schedules and identify potential impacts to facility operations
  • Monitor safety and report deficiencies or non-compliant work
  • Participate in equipment startup, rough-in, substantial completion, pre-final, and final inspections
  • Conduct labor standards interviews when required
  • Coordinate closely with GSA project managers, contractors, and facility personnel

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction inspection experience involving HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, building infrastructure, or commercial construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and schedules
  • Experience documenting construction progress and deficiencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Bay Area
  • Experience on federal, GSA, USACE, VA, or other government projects
  • Experience with occupied facility renovations

Certifications

  • ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Ability to monitor quality assurance activities and evaluate contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and quality control requirements
  • Strong construction inspection, observation, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of construction safety requirements and OSHA regulations, with the ability to identify and document safety issues
  • Experience reviewing and managing project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, schedules, payrolls, and progress reports
  • Ability to assist with cost estimating, cost negotiations, schedule analysis, and technical writing
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for working with contractors, park staff, and other project stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent project scheduling and management software
