About the role

The Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices Group (MPA-11) is seeking post‑bac candidates to perform engineering, fabrication, and testing of mechanical and electrochemical systems, including components and subsystems for fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, and other energy technologies. The position provides opportunities to learn about mechanical and electrochemical systems and exposure to broader research opportunities at the national laboratories. The work is onsite in Los Alamos, NM.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication and testing of fuel cells, electrolyzers, and batteries
• Design, fabrication, and testing of components and parts
• Microfabrication and thin film deposition
• Programming in Python for automation of tasks and data analysis
• CAD design of custom hardware

Requirements

• Strong background in one or more of: Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Chemical engineering
• Experience working in a laboratory in a research and development environment
• Ability to conduct basic design of systems and mechanical components
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) earned within the last 3 years
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a
