Mechanic - Warehouse Packaging - Shift 1

About the role

This position will report to the Assistant Manager. Travel requirements: N/A. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Shift: 1st. Employment Category: Full-Time Regular.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Equipment Coordinators and Supervisor with daily maintenance and repairs for a wide range of equipment.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance on material-handling equipment, racks, dock ramps, and related components according to manufacturer specifications.
• Regularly troubleshoots and uses equipment manuals.
• Assists internal maintenance departments in maintaining company equipment as required.
• Works directly with Equipment Coordinators, Supervisors, and department managers to achieve project goals as needed.
• Maintains clean shop areas and job sites.
• Strives to maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
• Keeps Equipment Coordinators informed about daily production and finished product quality.
• Maintains a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation.
• Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintains maintenance log.
• Inspects equipment components for safety decals and compliance.
• Performs timely check out/check in.
• Pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors.
• Checks equipment for damage, records hours used, mileage, and fuel levels.
• Operates overhead cranes, forklifts, and other required equipment safely.
• Performs skilled hydraulic mechanical troubleshooting repairs.
• Diagnoses, adjusts, and repairs hydraulic equipment.
• Tests and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment.
• Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery.
• Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
• Examines parts for defects.
• Performs other assigned duties and/or projects to support business needs.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or two to three years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience.
• Two to three years of experience working with electric forklifts, man lifts, stackers, electric carts, and battery chargers.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Technical degree in Electrical and Electronics (a plus).
• Technical School for Hydraulic Troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Arc / Mig welding and cutting methods.
• Previous experience in troubleshooting hydraulic systems.

Physical Demands

• Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 ° Fahrenheit or below); will work in the warehouse building as well as ALL facilities (indoor and outdoor).
• Material exposure – moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 55 lbs.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis when assigned to perform work duties.
• Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extended period.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Hours & Workdays

Shift 1 – 08:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
