Mechanic Trainee - Dumfries, VA

About the role

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform maintenance on power station mechanical equipment.
• Perform overhauling and maintenance of major industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Overtime - planned and emergency, is required.
• Be placed in a standardized skills development program.
• Part of the emergency response organization.
• Some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) may be required to support other station outages.

Requirements

• One (1) year of experience in overhauling and maintaining equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Experience working with hand tools/industrial tools, rigging, scaffolding, forklifts, coarse and precision measurement tools, etc.
• Millwright experience
• Vocational/Technical training or prior military experience
• Basic computer skills (including keyboarding)
• A strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Skills

• Good oral communication skills
• Applies basic skills and works on developing advance skills using tools and equipment
• Resolves routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to more experienced personnel.
• Follows standard written and oral instruction.

Pay

The starting hourly rate for this position is $30.98/hour.
