Mechanic Specialist, Level 1-4 (Aurora or Fort Morgan, CO)

Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and auxiliary equipment. Perform heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement of reciprocating and turbine engines and compressors, including prime movers and auxiliary units. Reports to a Crew Leader to ensure consistency in maintenance practices and detailed computer documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the condition of engine and compressor components and perform required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications.
  • Mentor teammates and other company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork timely and accurately.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Follow all safety policies to complete tasks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, emphasizing injury and incident-free workdays.
  • Perform administrative tasks including ordering and receiving replacement parts, completing timesheets and expense accounts, and maintaining a company vehicle.
  • Act as a company representative when interacting with contractors and vendors.
  • Work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Overtime may be required and is anticipated; work schedule may include Monday through Thursday, ten hours per day.
  • Significant overnight travel (up to 50% of the time), schedule changes, and availability for call-outs.
  • Promote and embody company core values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifugal compressor units; experience with turbine engines, natural gas compressors, auxiliary engines, and related equipment is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of compressor engines.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy maintenance related to engine/compressor units.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain natural gas plant equipment, pumps, exchangers, compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and blueprints.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner to emergencies or after-hours calls.
  • Good communication skills; ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, regulatory officials, and coworkers.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical equipment, internal combustion engines, gas turbines, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software); trainable to custom software applications.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Customer focus and ability to work with a team, take direction, focus on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Exert up to 100 lbs. of physical force.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods.
  • Twist head and back for extended periods.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms.
  • Ascend and descend slopes and ditches.
  • Work with hands above head and lying on back.
  • Work in adverse weather and extreme temperature conditions.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial environment, including engine rooms and auxiliary buildings.
  • Available for callouts 24/7, except during company-sponsored paid time off.
  • Overnight travel away from the reporting location up to 50% of the time.
  • Must clear a DOT drug screen and complete background check after an offer is extended and prior to employment.

Pay

USD $36.00 - USD $50.00 per hour.
