Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
• Dismantle and reassemble trucks, machines, and equipment to access problem areas
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear and determine re-usability
• Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate parts as necessary
• Repair malfunctioning hydraulic components
• Diagnose and correct electrical problems
• Replace malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g., transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines)
• Perform welding, cutting, and fabricating of all equipment and components
• Change oil, check and change batteries, and perform complete lubrication tasks on equipment and machinery
• Change and repair tires and tubes
• Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Make recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
• Requisition parts and equipment
• Maintain record keeping and reporting
• Provide general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility

Requirements

• CDL B with air brakes
• 5-7 years of experience
• Knowledge of heavy equipment and mixer trucks
• Knowledge of engines, hydraulics, braking systems, and drivelines (including clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials)
• Knowledge of steering mechanisms, suspensions, and electrical systems
• Mechanical skills
• Welding, cutting, and fabricating skills
• Ability to manipulate tools (e.g., hand tools, power tools)
• Ability to read, write, and understand manuals
