Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work diligently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.).
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks).
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle end users.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school OR Minimum of three (3) months related experience and/or training as a mechanic
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for one another.

  • Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience or training
  • Licensure: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

General Information

  • Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: Regular full-time position, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week. This may include weekends and holidays.
  • Work Environment: Work is on sites involving pervasive hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations; speeding traffic; loud and constant noise; and regular exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and combustible materials. Some working conditions require special precautions and the use of protective gear (e.g., hard hats, respirator masks, gloves, etc.).
  • Physical Demands: Essential functions involve significant physical demands related to repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted, 100 pounds with assistance rarely; carrying tools, materials, and equipment over rough terrain; climbing, reaching and bending. Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, drive, hear, bend, stoop, twist, and balance; need the ability to occasionally kneel and crawl; need the ability to grasp manual controls and the ability to use foot controls and operate gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.
