About the role
Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Chief Engineer and the Plant Operations Supervisor, the Mechanic III is responsible for a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and heating/air conditioning tasks to include installing and repairing equipment, and maintaining buildings and grounds as assigned. The Mechanic III is expected to be self-motivated with a high attention to detail and task ownership, ensuring that assigned projects/tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities
- Installs and repairs various equipment types in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, maintenance schedules, and manufacturer specifications with minimal supervision, to include but not limited to:
- Performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications in a timely manner.
- Assists with the inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the water, gas, and draining system.
- Constructs, repairs, and maintains furniture, wall partitions, cabinets, doors, windows, building framework, and related carpentry duties with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs heating and cooling plant equipment to include but not limited to:
- Calculates quantity of materials and supplies needed to complete assigned projects.
- Utilizes appropriate principles related to safety and infection control in the provision of services.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in the moving and lifting of supplies and equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate precautions related to infection control in relation to maintenance of equipment, supplies, the environment, and personal hygiene activities.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to fulfill position responsibilities.
