Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger derricks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
• Troubleshoot diesel and gas engines.
• Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
• Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

• Must have own tools (1/4" up to 2").
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CDL Class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment.
• 5 years of experience in vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to perform tune-ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoes, basic engine repair, and electric repair.
• Basic diesel and drive train experience.
• Ability to use a cutting torch and basic welding skills.
• Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 or more years of experience.
• DOT Certified Flagger.
• CDL Class A license.
• Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair.
• Air brake certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Work may occur in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

• Physically active role with lifting required; must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
• Precise hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
