About the role
This is a fully trained shop mechanic who is able to perform all required shop job duties and routine preventative maintenance functions. This position performs all repairs relating to tractor, trailer and minor repairs relating to the refrigeration power unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailers and their refrigeration systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Class 8 tractors.
- Perform simple and complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Diagnose, remove, repair, replace or rebuild:
- Brake systems
- Wheel seals
- Tractor suspension
- Minor body repairs
- Batteries
- Drive lines
- Light repairs
- Diagnose and make repairs on diesel engines.
- Troubleshoot cooling systems.
- Conduct diagnostic tests.
- Cut or weld using cutting torch and welders.
- Read, understand and use service bulletins and technical manuals.
- Maintain shop tools.
- Complete all paperwork and computer input.
- Comply effectively with company work and safety rules.
- Effectively communicate both written and orally with supervisor and peers.
- Follow directions.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Be trained and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days after hire.
- Comply with company attendance policy.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the job.
- Must be available for shop on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- Have High School Diploma or GED.
- Trade school graduate in heavy duty diesel repairs, and/or refrigeration classes is preferred.
- Beginning level is preferred as we will train for all repairs necessary.
- Have some job experience on vehicle or equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Possess basic hand tools (up to ½" drive) and tool storage.
- Possess a Valid Class C Driver's License.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp, and reach above the head for extended periods of time.
- This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.

Pay
Pay rate: $28.00 to $30.00 depending on experience, plus shift premium .40 per hour.
Schedule
Sunday to Thursday 2:30 PM start time. Schedule can be adjusted if needed.
