Mechanic, HVAC

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as well as pumps and energy management systems.
• Install, and test HVAC systems for laboratory, administrative, and residential buildings.
• Perform maintenance on air compressors, vacuum pumps, blowers, electromechanical control systems, and other mechanical systems.
• Interact with other trades, scientific staff, and the Laboratory’s administration on the performance of job duties.
• Order necessary supplies and materials from approved vendors.
• Troubleshoot maintenance problems.
• Reclaim, recycle, and add CFC and HCFC refrigerants to air conditioning and refrigeration systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Education: High school degree or equivalent required. Refrigerant technician license preferred.
• Experience: Must have five years experience in the areas of general mechanics and HVAC and equipment controls maintenance and repair.
• Other: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Knowledge/Skills: Strong computer skills required. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems in various HVAC/R systems. Ability to read blueprints and complex wiring diagrams. Knowledge of BMS beyond the graphics level. Interact with Laboratory staff in the performance of duties.
