Mechanic-Heavy Equipment -Sampler Way

Responsibilities

• Conducts basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of mobile equipment
• Completes routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Mobile Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations
• Replace worn or defective parts, which can involve disassembling and reassembling major components like power trains and crawler heads
• Overhaul and test major systems, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems, to ensure operating efficiency
• Maintain accurate service records on all work performed
• Conduct routine maintenance, like cleaning and lubrication, and schedule future maintenance to prevent breakdowns
• Order and maintain spare parts inventory
• Weld broken parts, fit bearings, and align frames and gears
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on the equipment
• Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area
• Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely
• Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures
• PM’s Forklifts and bobcats
• Heavy equipment, loaders, and material handlers

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical degree highly desired
• Proficiency in Mobile Equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems is essential
• Individual equipment repair certifications can be beneficial
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
• Must be willing to complete, and successfully pass a drug screen, physical and background check
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus
