About the role
Energy Management Corporation (EMC) is seeking a highly skilled Electric Motor Mechanic to join our Pomona service center. This is an opportunity for a seasoned professional to take ownership of complex repairs, mentor the next generation, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, mission-critical equipment back to our customers.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, repair, and rebuild a wide range of AC/DC motors and electro-mechanical equipment
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across mechanical and electrical systems
- Execute and oversee dynamic balancing of rotors and armatures
- Conduct vibration analysis (Level 1+) and interpret results to drive repairs
- Operate and mentor others on specialized testing equipment, including surge and megger testing
- Tear-down, inspection, and rebuild processes with a focus on quality and efficiency
- Ensure all work meets EMC’s quality and safety standards
- Support and occasionally lead field service projects, including equipment removal and installation
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce downtime, and increase shop efficiency
What Sets You Apart
- Proven experience repairing industrial electric motors and rotating equipment
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and motor design
- Skilled with precision tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and medium-voltage testing equipment
- Able to troubleshoot independently and make sound technical decisions
- A natural mentor who enjoys developing others and elevating team performance
- High standards for quality, safety, and workmanship
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to support field work as needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is a hands-on role in a shop environment requiring:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, and working with tools for extended periods
- Use of proper PPE and adherence to safety standards
