Mechanic

Job Duties

• Trouble shoot problems with machinery (Hydraulic systems, diesel equipment, electrical systems and excavators)
• Repair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical parts
• Remove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples)
• Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine covers
• Perform limited torch cutting and welding
• Drive company mechanic truck to various yards in a given region
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Inspect the safety of the equipment
• Ensure regular attendance and punctuality
• Organize materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members

Qualifications

• Must pass a preemployment physical and drug screen
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral); basic math skills as the job demands
• Diesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferred
• Previous experience with hydraulic repairs must have diesel engine experience
