About the role
Magnolia Plumbing, LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Laurel-based team. In this role, you will maintain and repair our fleet of commercial vehicles, vacuum/scavenger trucks, diesel engines, work vans, SUVs, and sedans, ensuring our vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable, and ready to support daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical issues.
- Perform repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, and other vehicle components.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
- Complete scheduled maintenance, repairs, and emergency service requests as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
- Communicate repair needs, equipment status, and recommendations with management.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, brake, suspension, and drivetrain systems.
- Experience working on trucks, trailers, utility vehicles, or construction equipment preferred.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL and ASE certifications preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
