Mechanic
About the role
The mechanic performs tasks on job sites, in the shop, and on roadways involving the repair and service of diesel and gasoline engines, small engines, underlayment pumps, heavy-duty and light-duty transmissions, hydraulic pumps and cylinders, heavy-duty and light-duty truck chassis, air brakes, electrical wiring, and light fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately, perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on company vehicles and/or equipment.
- Diagnose problems and determine whether to repair in-house or send out.
- Performs general mechanical repair and maintenance to keep the fleet serviceable.
- Manages upkeep and organization of shop, tools, and equipment.
- Records and accounts for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing vehicles, equipment, and rentals.
- Performs DOT annual inspections on trucks and trailers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Mechanic’s Certificate or deemed equivalent experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/job location(s)
- Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving
- Ability to pass drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 80lbs
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
Qualifications
- CDL A license preferred (or the ability to obtain CDL licensing)
Skills
- Strong mechanical skills
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines
- Experience with small engines, underlayment pumps, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
- Proficient in electrical wiring and fabrication
