Mechanic
About the role
Join our team at Golden Valley Electric Association as a full-time Mechanic in Fairbanks, Alaska. In this role, you will help maintain and repair a wide range of fleet and utility equipment critical to supporting GVEA's operations and service reliability.
Responsibilities
- Apply your troubleshooting and repair skills while working on light- and heavy-duty vehicles, utility equipment, and specialized machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Support equipment reliability while working alongside a skilled team in a safety-focused environment.
- Maintain an organized and efficient shop, ensuring equipment and tools are properly maintained and ready to support daily operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training in vehicle and equipment maintenance required.
- Valid Alaska Class A Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Excellent driving record required; current driving record must be submitted with employment application.
- Three years of experience inspecting and performing maintenance on utility and fleet vehicles.
- Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of boom and bucket trucks, requiring dielectric testing preferred.
- Experience in fabrication and welding preferred.
