Mechanic

About the role

For over seven decades investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and others have entrusted their electrical construction and maintenance needs to Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. (Elliot). Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services. We are seeking a mechanic to perform the following. This position will be out of the Cloverdale office and will support surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles including tires and tracks
• Meet with crew members and leads to better understand their concerns and identify issues
• Assemble mechanical components according to specs
• Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems
• Design a plan of action for all maintenance equipment tasks and upgrades
• Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records
• Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary
• Perform vehicle/equipment assessments and alert appropriate parties on issues that will prohibit their vehicle/equipment from operating correctly or passing an inspection
• Perform DOT inspections

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience
• Provide own tools
• Experience in electrical, hydraulics, and diesel preferred
• Have or be eligible to obtain a Class A CDL
• Willing to travel when necessary
• 50+ hours a week expected
