Mechanic

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent AND four (4) years of experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing various types of construction related equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of: Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.
• Records maintenance and retention policies and procedures.
• Work safety policies, procedures, practices, and equipment.
• Welding and fabrication methods.
• Electric and computer systems in vehicles.
• Hydraulic, electric, fuel injection and computer systems.
• General uses and functions of various vehicles and equipment used by the City.
• Skills In: Reading and accurately interpreting repair and operator manuals.
• Operating various tools and equipment.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicles and equipment.
• Interacting tactfully and professionally with City staff, outside agencies, and the public.
• Organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
• Completing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Analyzing complex issues and implementing appropriate responses.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Licenses And Certifications

• A valid Class B Commercial Washington State driver’s license is required.
