About the role
The City of El Mirage seeks a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates warranty work.
- Maintains quality and effectiveness of repairs.
- Performs data entry.
- Maintains records.
- Fabricates and fulfills welding requests.
- Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles as assigned.
- Transports vehicles and/or equipment to vendors for repairs or arranges for pick up.
- Reviews repair requests and determines repair needs and/or vendors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED supplemented with college coursework or training in the field of mechanics.
- 3 years of related experience.
- A valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Qualifications
- Standard practices of the mechanic trade.
- Industry-recommended and approved principles and practices in the operation and repair of equipment applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Safe work practices and associated maintenance and repairs.
- Techniques and methods of welding for fabrication and/or repairs.
- Quality assurance methods for vehicle and/or equipment repair.
- Basic business math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Records management and filing techniques.
- Basic procurement principles, including specification development.
- Customer service.
- Communication skills to convey and receive information.
Skills
- Utilizing the maintenance records system for future routine and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Operating diagnostic testing equipment.
- Repairing and overhauling equipment.
- Troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Proper use and care of common shop tools and welding and fabrication machinery.
- Performing welding fabrication and/or repairs.
- Developing equipment and/or vehicle specifications.
- Monitoring and tracking expenditures.
- Safely operating a variety of vehicles and/or equipment.
- Providing quality customer service.
- Operating general office equipment and assigned computer software.
- Making basic business math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Pay
New Hire Salary Range: $29.80 - $33.77 per hour
Salary range: $29.80 - $41.72 per hour
