The Role

Must Have:

• Experience in electrical work
• Knowledge of electrical systems and components
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Strong problem-solving skills

• Experience with automation and control systems
• Proficiency in electrical testing and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of marine electrical systems

About the Role

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, designing, building, and refueling U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. As a Mech Tech D 1 (Electrician), you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on naval vessels.

Responsibilities

Responsible for:

• Maintaining and repairing electrical systems on naval vessels
• Installing and troubleshooting electrical equipment
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Collaborating with other tradespeople and engineers

Requirements

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Current US Citizenship
• Experience in electrical work
• Knowledge of electrical systems and components
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

Qualifications

Additional requirements include:

• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Skills
