Overview of Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service, practicing safe food handling procedures and a high level of product knowledge and preparation techniques.
• Receive, store, and grind meats; unloads and transports fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery truck.
• Count and weigh incoming articles and compare results against an invoice; examine meats in storage and rotate meats to avoid aging.
• Assist customers with questions, special orders, and needs, while maintaining a positive, customer focused work environment.
• Give customers direction of product location throughout the store, and perform and follow our “Clean as You Go” and “Fresh at 4” Programs.
• Adhere to all procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent, and basic math, weights, and measures knowledge.
• Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior, positive attitude, and ability to interact with customers.
• Knowledge of weekly ads, ability to perform general housekeeping, adhere to safety and health regulations, and use sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
• Standing for up to 4 hours continuously, walking up to 2 miles per 8 hours, lifting/carrying up to 90 lbs., moving up to 70 lbs. vertically, and operating a pallet jack and table mover.
• Good vision for sharp knife use, and ability to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically.
• Ability to work inside a temperature-controlled area, perform general housekeeping, and clean and sanitize work area.
