Meat Clerk Part Time

About the role

Receives, rotates, wraps, and merchandises fresh and processed meats. Assists in merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. Provides assistance to Members by answering questions and recommending products. Maintains all cleaning and safety standards within the meat department.

Responsibilities

• Answers member questions regarding meats, poultry, and seafood and makes product recommendations.
• Weighs, packages, wraps, and labels cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinding hamburger meat when needed.
• Assists the meat cutter in packaging freshly cut meats and seafood.
• Inspects and stores meat upon delivery, ensuring all delivered meat meets or exceeds company quality standards.
• Ensures meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases are fully stocked and rotates products according to expiration dates.
• Follows established guidelines for disposing of damaged or expired products.
• Receives and unpacks meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the cooler and freezer.
• Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department, including coolers, freezers, and refrigerated display cases.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Delivers service excellence to members, resolves concerns, and de‑escalates issues while upholding GOLD Member Standards (Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate).
• Works collaboratively with team members to achieve goals, uphold safety, and maintain a positive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with fresh and processed meats preferred.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• Prior experience in a meat and/or deli department preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Job Conditions

• Frequent movement on hard surfaces; occasional bending, reaching, stooping, and scanning merchandise.
• Regular lifting of objects up to 30 lb; occasional lifting of heavier or awkward items with assistance.
• Work performed in a comfortable indoor area with occasional exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises, and cleaning agents.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Pay

The estimated compensation range for this position is $17.25 – $20.70 per hour.
