Meat Clerk-Mountain Green

Position Summary

Lee’s Marketplace is a family-owned grocery chain dedicated to providing a great shopping experience for guests. As a Meat Clerk, you will play a crucial role in delivering this experience by ensuring fresh, high-quality meat products are available, and the department is clean and well-stocked.

Primary Position Duties

• Cut, trim, and prepare various cuts of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, and lamb, based on customer orders and store requirements.
• Assist customers by answering questions about meat cuts, preparation methods, and cooking recommendations.
• Provide suggestions and help customers select the right products for their needs.
• Ensure the meat department is fully stocked with fresh products.
• Display products in an appealing and hygienic manner.
• Replenish stock regularly to meet demand.
• Keep the meat department, including workstations, utensils, and display cases, clean and organized.
• Follow all food safety regulations and proper hygiene practices.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, check for expiration dates, and rotate stock to minimize waste.
• Assist in ordering products as needed.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear and handling equipment safely.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and local regulations regarding food safety.
• Accurately package meat products, including weighing and labeling packages with the correct price and product information.
• Work closely with other meat department staff, store managers, and other departments to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.

Guest Service

• Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
• Promote and exemplify a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.
• Prepares and processes the guest’s orders promptly and finalizes their purchase in a friendly manner.
• Displays excellent problem-solving skills and prides themselves on finding the best resolution that exemplifies the "Lee’s Way - doing what’s best for our guests, our team, and our company."

Product Handling

• Stock shelves and maintain displays according to store standards.
• Ensure product freshness by rotating stock and checking expiration dates.
• Absorb and organize stock rooms as needed.
• Package and label products using a computer program.
• Assists the department to maintain proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of products in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Cleanliness and Safety

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Report any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Contributes towards the cleaning responsibilities in the department as management sees fit.

Cash Handling (if applicable)

• Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
• Follow store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.
• Ensure the security of cash and other financial transactions.

Team Collaboration

• Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.
• Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
• Provides a safe, clean, and positive environment; and consistently builds and supports a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement.
• Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department.
• Provides a professional example for other team members to follow.
• Attends team meetings and training sessions.
• Assist other departments as needed.

Position Requirements

• Age Requirement: 18yrs+
• Availability: Flexible including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment. Repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance. Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
• Tools And Machinery: Register system, Extensive phone and intercom use, Blades, slicers, and knives, Hot cases and cold cases, Temperature controlled rooms, Step stools/ladders, Trash Compactor, Bailer, Wheelers, Delivery Vehicles (21yrs+), Digital communication and training platforms, Handheld ordering systems, Any other tools and machinery seen fit for role.

Education Or Skills

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food service or guest service (preferred). Previous Meat Department experience welcome.
• Skills And Abilities: Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members, and guests. Friendly, customer-focused attitude. Basic knowledge of food safety or willingness to complete training. Punctual, dependable, and able to follow instructions. Ability to implement solutions quickly and effectively. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle team member, guest, and vendor inquiries and complaints effectively. Ability to read and follow instructions. Great verbal and written communication skills.
