Position Summary
Cardenas Markets is seeking a retail store Meat Clerk to join our team. The Meat Clerk is responsible for washing, inspecting, and rotating all meat products, along with ensuring displays are stocked with new merchandise and ensuring expirations are up to date. The Meat Clerk must possess strong teamwork and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Work professionally as part of the team and provide excellent customer service;
- Verify prices, hang current sales signs, and removes out-of-date sales signs;
- Order and inventory required meats, seafood, and poultry;
- Sell products by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions;
- Ensure neat appearance of department and meat displays;
- Comply with sanitation and health guidelines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Valid Food Handlers Card;
- Prior food preparer experience at a grocery store preferred;
- Must be friendly and people oriented;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
- WALKING: Continuously, throughout the shift, while moving about the store and obtaining product.
- STANDING: Continuously, throughout the shift.
- LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

Pay
The pay scale is $18.19 to $20.79 per hour. Individual pay is determined by multiple factors including specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training. This information is provided in accordance with California Labor Code 432.3 and state and local minimum wage standards.
