POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Measurement and Controls Technician I will work as a part of the Measurement and Control Team and larger IT field support group. This position will interface daily with other teams from the IT department including the SCADA and Internal Measurement teams as well as Field Operations and Engineering support teams. The qualified individual will provide field level technical support in the design, installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all oil and gas facility process equipment. Special focus to be placed on:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates or technical degree in instrumentation, automation, or process controls is preferred (will consider equivalent experience).
- Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat, and other computer proficiency required.
- Able to communicate effectively with company management, engineering, and operations staff.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules and focus attention on details.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize work to achieve critical timelines.
- Able to work safely in challenging environments, including, and not limited to high temperature, noise, dust, and other industrial / oilfield locations.
- Physical requirements include but may not be limited to: Walk up and down stairs/ladders, negotiate uneven surfaces, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and insurer.
- Able to work on emergency and on-call support.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Oil and gas instrumentation and measurement experience.
- Basic understanding of different instruments, communication protocols (Hart, Modbus), configuration software packages, and test devices.
- Basic knowledge of both gas and liquid measurement along with different measurement technologies (ex. Orifice, ultrasonic, Coriolis, turbine, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of relevant AGA, API, and GPA standards.
- Basic knowledge of chart recorders and the maintenance associated with them.
- Basic understanding of wireless networks including radios, cellular modems, switches, routers, and other network gear (ex. Sierra Wireless, Freewave, MDS, Fortinet, etc.).
- Ability to connect to and troubleshoot EFM/RTU and/or PLC programs. (ex. Fisher ROC / Floboss, ABB, Bristol Control Wave, Modicon, Allen Bradley etc.).
- Ability to open, load, and deploy local HMI programs. (ex. Beijer, Red Lion, Pro Face, Panel View etc.).
- Basic knowledge and experience troubleshooting and repairing multiple types of artificial lift equipment (ex. Plunger, POC, ESP)
- Ability to troubleshoot and work on electrical equipment from 12 VDC – 600 VAC.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of SCADA platforms (Cygnet preferred).
