About the role
The Measurement & Instrumentation Technician supports the safe, reliable, and accurate operation of natural gas measurement and control systems. This role involves maintaining and operating a wide range of equipment, including gas meters, chromatographs, analyzers, odorization systems, regulators, valves, RTU and SCADA systems, communication equipment, and auxiliary systems such as heaters and electrical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain gas measurement equipment including but not limited to large meters, meter indexes and correctors, industrial AMR devices, and SCADA equipment.
- Perform accuracy testing and calibration adjustments on gas measurement equipment such as meter instrumentation and meter volume correctors.
- Complete maintenance and calibration adjustments on SCADA field equipment as needed.
- Verify programming configuration of SCADA Remote Terminal Units, electronic meter correctors, and industrial remote units.
- Respond to industrial remote measurement system issues, including troubleshooting and repairing telecommunication equipment as required. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the communication link between field devices and corporate database servers.
- Plan, monitor, and perform preventative maintenance as determined and scheduled during testing. Track maintenance schedules in the Work Asset Management (WAM) system.
- Perform emergency response maintenance as needed, conduct on-site troubleshooting and corrective measures to gas measurement equipment.
- Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards, and operating procedures.
- Perform periodic accuracy tests including the calibration, inspection, and maintenance of all equipment related to quality and quantity determination.
- Install instrumentation and equipment in new and renovated measurement and/or regulation facilities.
- Inspect and maintain all pressure and volumetric control equipment.
- Collect gas samples in compliance with partnership safety and industry guidelines.
- Participate in partnership safety programs and initiatives.
- Clock in and out as required for on-call duties and rotating shifts.
- Drive, walk, and stand frequently.
- Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions, and some heavy lifting (+50 lbs. or more would require a helper or lifting device).
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and exposure to loud noises that may require appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- All Levels: High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel. Strong mechanical abilities and skills. Detailed knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API, and GPA requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills to interface with the customer base.
- Measurement & Instrumentation Tech I: 2 years of experience working in the natural gas industry.
- Measurement & Instrumentation Tech II: 4 years of natural gas measurement industry experience.
- Measurement & Instrumentation Tech III: 4 years or more of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent.
Qualifications
