• About the Role

  The Harrison Scholar program at the University of Pennsylvania aims to provide research experience for post-baccalaureate students interested in academic careers in medicine. This one-year program exposes scholars to various research areas including Basic Science, Clinical Trials, and Translational Research.

Responsibilities

Research responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with laboratory procedures, cell isolation, DNA/RNA/protein isolation and analysis, PCR, ELISA, and experimental techniques as required.
• Preparing regulatory documents for IRB submission, assisting with screening, enrollment, randomization of human subjects, and data abstraction and entry in electronic data base systems.
• Assisting with the transition of basic science research to clinical research, which may involve clinical trials or other limited studies.
• Completing at least one independent project in collaboration with the faculty mentor and presenting it at a national meeting.

Requirements

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a bachelor’s degree preferred, and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.

Pay

$19.23 - $20.00 hourly rate. Salary offers are based on qualifications, experience, skills, and education, and internal organization and peer data at Penn are considered.

Schedule

This is a one-year position with a maximum of 40 hours per week and may require irregular work hours including evenings and weekends. The schedule is contingent upon continued grant funding.
