Meal Assistant

About the Role

Volunteers at Deer Lodge Centre assist adults with complex needs in Rehabilitation, Chronic Care, Dementia Care, Mental Health, and Bariatrics by providing mealtime support.

• Report to assigned unit
• Transport residents/patients to the dining area
• Assist assigned residents/patients with their meal as required
• Provide friendly conversation where appropriate

Responsibilities

• Commit to a consistent schedule
• Assist older adults with special needs during meal times
• Push residents in wheelchairs
• Work independently under supervision

Requirements

• Ability to commit to a 6-month term
• Comfort working with older adults with special needs
• Physical ability to push wheelchairs
• Clear criminal record check (required; cost not reimbursed)

Schedule

Meal-time shifts available seven days a week:

• 8:15 AM – 9:30 AM
• 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
• 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Open to volunteers aged 18 and older.
