Job Summary
- seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to support mission-critical cloud infrastructure and large-scale data repositories serving thousands of Intelligence Community users
- This position is responsible for administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining secure cloud-based platforms that support enterprise data processing and analytics
- The successful candidate will work within a high-tempo operational environment to ensure system availability, performance, reliability, and security while collaborating with engineering, network, and infrastructure teams to sustain and improve enterprise cloud services
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor the health, availability, and performance of cloud-based systems and large-scale distributed computing environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve operating system, network, application, storage, and data flow issues to maintain continuous operations
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Linux-based cloud infrastructure, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or similar operating systems
- Support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Hadoop, Accumulo, and other distributed data platforms
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts using Bash and/or Python to improve operational efficiency
- Perform system patching, software upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management activities
- Administer user accounts, permissions, authentication, and access controls in accordance with security policies
- Monitor storage systems and ensure data integrity, availability, and backup/recovery processes
- Support configuration management using Puppet or comparable enterprise automation tools
- Coordinate with hardware, network, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues
- Participate in system engineering discussions, operational planning, and continuous process improvement initiatives
- Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system configuration records
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to support operational requirements and mission continuity
- Ensure compliance with applicable security policies, configuration standards, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
- Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (including Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering) and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or systems administration; OR
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience; OR
- A minimum of seven (7) years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree
- Qualifying experience must include one or more of the following:- Requirements analysis
- Software development or engineering
- Software installation and integration
- System evaluation and enhancement
- System maintenance
- Troubleshooting and problem diagnosis/resolution
- DoD 8570 IAT Level I certification or higher (Security+ preferred) is required
- Experience administering Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or similar distributions
- Experience supporting large-scale distributed computing environments, including Hadoop, Accumulo, or comparable big data platforms
- Proficiency developing automation scripts using Bash and/or Python
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet or similar enterprise automation frameworks
- Experience monitoring system health, troubleshooting operational alerts, and resolving system outages
- Knowledge of storage systems, data integrity, backup, and recovery processes
- Experience supporting secure enterprise environments and implementing access control and account management
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary technical teams
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, mission-focused operational environment
Desired Qualifications
- Candidates possessing one or more of the following cloud certifications are highly desired:
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Experience supporting cloud-native or hybrid cloud environments
- Familiarity with container technologies and Kubernetes
- Experience supporting enterprise monitoring, automation, and operational sustainment
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability management, and secure systems administration
- Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps environments supporting mission-critical systems
- Familiarity with enterprise logging, monitoring, and performance management tools
Pay and Benefits
Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The pay range for this role is:
150,000 - 205,000 USD per year (NBP)
