Principal Responsibilities

  • Affirms adherence to Federal and State regulations and certifications.
  • Participates actively in the regulatory or certification survey process and addresses identified deficiencies.
  • Reports audit trends to the Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Ensures the completion of the RAI process from the MDS through the interdisciplinary completion of the plan of care.
  • Initiates and monitors the RAI process, tracking, discharge/reentry, and Medicaid tracking forms through the PointClickCare system.
  • Follows up with staff to ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Completes patient assessments, data collection, and interviews staff as necessary to maintain good standard of practice.
  • Facilitates accurate determination of the Assessment Reference Date, reflecting the patient's care needs and capturing all relevant resources for appropriate payment.
  • Maintains timely submission of MDSs to the State and follows up on validation errors.
  • Keeps validation records systematically and in an organized manner.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse / License Vocational Nurse program and licensed in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Case-Mix, the Federal Medicare PPS process, and Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Understanding of the Quality Indicator process.
  • Knowledge of OBRA regulations and Minimum Data Set.
  • Knowledge of the care planning process.
