About the role

The Marine Corps' Prepositioning (MCPP) Program provides maintenance and logistics services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Navy. As a Shipboard Engineer (Construction) Equipment Mechanic, you will perform high-level preventative maintenance and repairs to diesel engines and gasoline and diesel-driven construction equipment such as tractors, power shovels, road machinery, air compressors, concrete mixers, and other engine-driven or towed construction equipment. You will provide technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower-level mechanics and assist higher-level mechanics. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and gasoline/diesel-driven construction equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower-level mechanics.
  • Assist higher-level mechanics as needed.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 4 years of directly related work experience.
  • Completion of the Basic Engineer Program Mechanics Course or equivalent.
  • Completion of the Engineer Equipment Chief Course or equivalent.
  • Must maintain a valid passport.
  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
