About the role

This position is open for external candidates only to apply. This position will be filled at either the R&D Engineer 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SysML-based models that capture system requirements, behavior, structure, interfaces, and verification relationships
• Support systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, architecture development, interface management, and technical baseline development
• Apply MBSE methodologies and best practices to improve engineering rigor, traceability, and communication across stakeholders
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to collect, organize, and model technical information
• Generate model-based artifacts, technical documentation, diagrams, and reports to support engineering reviews and decision-making
• Support model verification, validation, consistency checks, and configuration management activities

• R&D Engineer 1: $96,600 - $158,000
• R&D Engineer 2: $106,400 - $176,000

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
• Education/Experience for R&D Engineer 1: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution combined with 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
• Education/Experience for R&D Engineer 2: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

• MBSE training/Certification (e.g., OCSMP)
• Experience with SysML and MBSE tools
• Familiarity with systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Jama, or similar applications
• Knowledge of digital engineering concepts, model governance, and configuration management
• Familiarity with scripting, automation, or data integration techniques
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering

Schedule

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
