About the role

The role focuses on improving the financial wellbeing of people affected by cancer, including their families and carers. You will help clients maximize their income, access benefits, grants and other financial support, and reduce financial pressures.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic advice covering benefits, debt, housing, employment and essential living costs, as well as practical support with forms, applications and urgent issues.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organizations to deliver advice through outreach, home visits, telephone and email.

Requirements

• Recent experience providing generalist social welfare advice.
• An understanding of the challenges associated with cancer, long-term illness and disability.
• Calm, empathetic and sensitive, while providing clear, accurate and empowering advice.
• Strong organization, effective caseload management, reliability and a collaborative approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Citizens Advice basic training programme is desirable.

• Knowledge of Macmillan Cancer Support services.
