United Tribes Technical College seeks an Advanced Math Instructor for a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Engineer Chair. This role is open to candidates who can work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Pay
- Master’s degree: $58,000 for 9 months
- PhD: $64,000 for 9 months
Responsibilities
- Instruct students based on the master course schedule, degree plans, and approved curricula in courses such as Intermediate Mathematics, College Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, and Calculus I-III.
- Teach a minimum of thirty (30) credits per academic year (fall/spring) through classroom, laboratory, online, and learning community activities.
- Design and develop culturally responsive curricula, lesson plans, and coursework materials that meet industry standards and enhance student learning.
- Update and upload course syllabi to WIDS each semester.
- Monitor and report student attendance and academic progress weekly in the Jenzabar system, using Early Alert interventions to support student success.
- Engage in departmental assessment efforts at the course, program, and institutional levels to improve student learning outcomes.
- Post and maintain a minimum of ten (10) office hours per week on at least four days, serving as an academic advisor or professional tutor during those hours.
- Share advising responsibilities for student clubs, which may include evening and weekend hours, and mentor students in research activities.
- Participate in career fairs, retention activities, new student orientation, and other student engagement initiatives.
- Attend college-sponsored professional development activities, department/division meetings, and faculty meetings.
- Comply with college policies, including wearing academic regalia at commencement.
- Submit a schedule to your supervisor at the start of each semester outlining office hours, class schedule, meetings, and availability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support college objectives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in math from a regionally accredited institution. A PhD in Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics is preferred.
- Two (2) years of successful college-level instruction in mathematics or a related field is preferred.
- Experience designing, developing, and facilitating online higher education courses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of American Indian tribes, cultures, and histories is desirable.
- Must be able to move about an office and classroom, operate office/classroom equipment, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs as needed.
Qualifications
Educational background in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering, or Physics.
