Math Teacher
Naples Classical Academy is a tuition-free public charter classical school and a Hillsdale College Member School. About the role
Naples Classical Academy is seeking experienced middle and high school Mathematics Teachers to teach grade-level mathematics. The ideal candidates will have knowledge of and passion for mathematics, taught effectively using traditional, classical pedagogy that engages students. Educators should focus on understanding the ideas behind the facts, helping students appreciate the beauty and wonder of math, and developing a love for the subject.
Responsibilities
- Plan and present lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Prepare and distribute learning materials such as notes, assignments, tests, and quizzes.
- Source the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
- Explain mathematical concepts (e.g., equations, polynomials, and graphing).
- Uphold the mission and values of Naples Classical Academy.
- Create, plan, and deliver lesson plans that reflect the Hillsdale curriculum and pedagogy.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth and their ability to meet school standards.
- Provide feedback to students and parents to improve understanding.
- Establish and maintain a safe learning environment and manage student behavior.
- Communicate effectively with students about lessons and instructions.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, co-workers, deans, coaches, and school administration.
- Develop classroom materials and organize activities.
- Assign homework and grade tests, quizzes, and exams.
- Prepare students for exams and create learning projects and essays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or graduating with a degree before the start of the new school year).
- Knowledge of the subject area.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, or lift.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Degree in Mathematics or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in the corresponding subject area, a Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status, or a desire to obtain certification within 2 years of employment (NCA can provide information on obtaining the necessary certification for eligible candidates).
- Preferred: Prior teaching experience.
