About the role
The Undergraduate Math Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting students enrolled in developmental education courses. This role involves tutoring, academic coaching, case management, and collaboration with instructors.
Responsibilities
- Tutoring and Academic Coaching
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support
- Design and implement tailored academic support plans
- Model and guide students in developing metacognitive strategies
- Build authentic relationships based on trust and mutual accountability
- Case Management and Student Tracking
- Maintain detailed case notes and track support provided and outcomes
- Identify students most likely to benefit from early intervention
- Make referrals and share information thoughtfully and ethically
- Instructional Partnership and Faculty Collaboration
- Collaborate with instructors to support shared student success goals
- Confer regularly with classroom instructors to share insights into student progress
- Program Coordination and Team Collaboration
- Engage in regular team meetings to plan impactful student supports
- Coordinate with partners and teams to connect students with resources
- Respond to student support requests in an effective and timely manner

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Math Education, or related field
- Tutoring or teaching math at the high school or college level
- Experience with digital tools for education
- Experience collaborating on a team towards a shared set of goals
- Experience tutoring or teaching students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Experience tutoring or teaching multilingual or multidialectal students
- Experience collaborating in a classroom or tutoring center
- Bilingual or multilingual

Pay
