About the role

Provide leadership in the development and evaluation of various components of the curriculum. Teach on-campus and online courses, supervise, and evaluate students in the classroom; assist with academic advising by holding regular conferences with student advisees; evaluate students’ progress; attempt to develop the potentialities of each student; keep accurate records and submit pertinent information on students; participate in faculty meetings and attend college functions; remain active in organizations and attend workshops and other educational offerings in order to continue to upgrade teaching abilities and skills; follow institutional policies, procedures and line authority; assist in special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality instruction, teach courses as assigned, provide students with course documentation, demonstrate effective interaction skills, relate instruction/materials to course objectives, develop creative class activities, use various teaching techniques, and organize instruction.
  • Provide academic advising, assist with recruitment, develop and implement successful retention activities, assist in graduate placement, assist in student orientation/registration, provide appropriate safety instruction.
  • Manage classroom/lab, clinic activities in an orderly manner, hold 8 office hours per week, submit all required reports in a timely manner, prepare budget projections for equipment and supplies, and practice good housekeeping, repair equipment as appropriate.
  • Design new programs, revise curricula, develop new courses, develop and revise instructional materials for current courses, participate in advisory committees.
  • Work on college committees, perform public service for the college, supervise/chaperone student events, promote the purpose and institutional objectives of the college, and build rapport with employers of graduates.

Requirements

Minimum and Additional Requirements: Doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using online management software, to include ALEKS and MyMathLab; proficiency with graphing calculator, Microsoft Office, web conferencing, virtual learning, Notebook software, etc.
