About the role
Holy Ghost Catholic School in Houston, TX, seeks a responsible, energetic, and nurturing individual with teaching experience to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
- Instructs students in the principles of responsible digital citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, evaluates and assesses curriculum, participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Maintains record keeping of students' learning and performance.
- Maintains classroom order and behavioral management to ensure the safety of the classroom.
- Oversees students in non-instructional duties, such as lunch, carpool, etc.
- Affords assistance in morning, lunch, or afternoon duty as assigned.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards as outlined in the Student & Faculty Handbooks, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Texas State Teaching Certification.
- Receive and pass a criminal background check clearance.
- Be trained and verified in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
- Have a current Catechist Certificate or be working towards one.
- Be committed to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents in person, through electronic means, and in writing.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Skills
- Ability to administer standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
