About the role
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of high risk or complicated pregnancies. They examine patients to ensure proper care and provide consultation for complications associated with pregnancy. They assist in maternal transport and prenatal diagnosis through the use of ultrasounds and/or genetic counseling.
Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, counsel, and treat patients within the physician’s area of maternal fetal medicine.
- Makes critical decisions regarding medical care and works closely with management staff.
- Directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies.
- Participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff.
- Absorbs and applies current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license.
- Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
- Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
- Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required.
Qualifications
- Required and/or Preferred Name Description
- Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Experience: Prior experience in referenced specialty preferred.
- Licenses: Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
- Certifications: Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Board Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment. Board-eligible or board-certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine. If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Board Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
- Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

- Capable of operating business units in conformance with good quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as JCAHO, NCQA, MGMA, etc.
