Materials Testing Laboratory Technician

An entry-level laboratory role responsible for performing routine chemical and mechanical material testing while supporting daily laboratory operations, quality assurance, production, and research and development activities. This position plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine chemical and mechanical analyses in accordance with written laboratory procedures, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all testing activities.
• Generates, records, and reports test results in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining proper documentation in compliance with laboratory standards.
• Assists in drafting work instructions and procedures as directed.
• Supports adherence to laboratory documentation rules and quality requirements.
• Maintains laboratory equipment, tools, and workspaces in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Promptly notifies the Laboratory Supervisor of any conditions that may affect safety, productivity, or quality.
• Supports material verification activities in collaboration with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams.
• Assists with procuring laboratory supplies and maintaining inventory levels.
• Supports general laboratory operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma (required).
• Zero to three years of laboratory or manufacturing experience, or an associate degree in a physical science or technical field.
• Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Solid analytical and organizational abilities.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends on short notice.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASME Section III and VIII, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, NQA-1, and 10CFR21 (preferred).
• Knowledge of basic chemistry techniques such as titration, gravimetric analysis, and solution preparation.
• Familiarity with mechanical testing methods including tensile, hardness, and impact testing (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment (beneficial).
